Weekly National Inventory Survey:
This survey commenced in 1992 on a National basis. I collate the total number of eggs that remain in storage at the end of the trading week to be carried forward to commence the following weeks trading. The quantity is recorded in dozens and is compiled to provide an overall quantity of egg stocks on hand. The compiled results are circulated each week and individuals’ data is treated in confidence. This data provides indicators of surpluses or shortages of egg stocks over or under the ideal stock level required by the Egg Industry to comfortably commence trading the following week.
Contributors providing data are invoiced each six months for the cost of the service. Produces not contributing data who request the results are also charged a fee. If you would like to participate, Contact Us for more details.
National Chick Hatchlings Survey:
This survey commenced in 2000 on a National basis. All three major hatcheries provide data each month for past pullet chick hatched for sale and future orders for chicks placed by Producers. Other smaller hatcheries data are also included. The quantity recorded for chicks hatched or orders placed for the future is compiled to provide an overall quantity of pullet chicks. Individual’s data is treated in confidence.
The results are provided to The Australian Egg Corporation (AECL) who further analyses the data to circulate their analysis monthly, reporting estimated future levels of production and the effect this may have on grade supply.
AECL supports the cost of providing this service. Produces also contribute further survey data direct to AECL to allow completion of the report. Results can be viewed on AECL’s web site. New contributors to AECL survey are welcome to provide data by contacting AECL.
